LOVE STORY

Frantically I ran around the house packing. I was going to be late and he was already on his way. I am always late… Does he know this about me yet, I thought? There is a knock at the door, my heart flutters. Does he know he can do that to me yet, make my heart flutter? We exchange quick hugs and hello’s and he grabs my bag.

Locking the door behind me, I grab his hand as we walk to the car. I like holding his hand. Does he know that about me yet? We awkwardly flip through radio stations trying to compromise, although… I kind of don’t like his music, at all… Does he know that about me yet?

Holding hands again, I stare out the window. We make small talk about where I am going and what I might do while there. I am dressed in all the right clothes, I have on the cutest shoes I own, and my hair looks perfect. Maybe he thinks I like to be dressed up while I travel? I planned to go straight out to the bars the second I landed. I bet he doesn’t know that about me.

I lean into him and snuggle on his chest. He is really tall. I like that. I bet he doesn’t know that I like that about him yet…? He wraps his arms around me in return and leans in for a kiss. He makes my heart flutter.

I grab my bag and walk into the airport. Looking over my shoulder, he is still standing there, smiling. I think, I really like this guy. Does he know that about me yet?

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Six years ago today, St. Patrick’s Day 2005… I had no idea it would be that last vacation I took not loving him. I never imagined when I leaned into him and snuggled his chest before we kissed, that I would love this man. Little did I know that one week later on my birthday, we would have our first real date.

When we were dating for six months I give him an empty blank book. Only one page was filled… A little love note, in our little love book. Where I placed our names together in stickers. Jacob and Melissa. In a book. Together… In stickers. This was real. Did he know that about me yet? That I wanted a ‘real’ with him?

Here we are six years later, and I have my ‘real’ with him. Completely in love…

Together in a book, in our love book. Torn pages, sloppy writing, silly drawings. Bad jokes, laughs and even tearful entires. Promises and hopes, dreams and life. Where we declared we were crazy for each other, how we couldn’t wait for our forever, road trips, and Valentine’s Day love bugs. Birthday love and first anniversaries, author’s notes and baby announcements…

But the best part… the best part is it is ours.

Now, now I know what love is.

Love is documented and love is shared. Love is simple. Weather in a book or in your heart, it is treasured.

But mostly, love… love is… “to be continued”.

Melinda Bunker - Melissa,
This is an amazing blog post…I am touched and adore you even more! I LOVE this book and the story behind it! Won’t it be amazing to look back at it for all the years to come? WOW! I am almost in tears. Love you and your heart.

Mandi Rossbach - Love it, love it, love you! Crazy that we have just about the same anniversary, just one year apart. Happy 6 years! So happy for the two of you!

VIVA LAS VEGAS

Okay, so yes although we did head to Vegas to partake in Wppi (like the worlds largest gathering of talent and cameras) we, also before leaving agreed I wouldn’t take anything camera related that wouldn’t fit in my purse or pocket. 3 days baby free, with only a carry on (first time ever!), and no camera gear to schlep around… With my husband… Um yes please!

I have never done this. Gone on a trip armed solely with my IPhone to capture all of our moments… Let me say, it was kind of freeing to not have to stop every second because I ‘see’ something. I can’t say I would suggest this method for a grand adventure with once in a life time scenery or moments taking place before you however… But it was really great to just be able to enjoy what was around me at the time, being my mister man husband.

So here in all of it’s IPhone glory, creatively and artistically enhanced thanks to Instagram Early Bird filter… Viva Las Vegas, a la Jake and Melissa style.

Blurry & in love,

-MB

Bob - IN ‘N OUT… must in the trip if you don’t live on the Left Coast!

Tiffany - This reminds me of Chase Jarvis’ book he published with only photos taken from his iPhone. Love it!
